Lee-John Sobering
Lee-John Sobering has
been in the retail floral and gift industry for 40
years. His first store in Boca Raton, Fl. sold the very
best of everything. His goal: to bring the most unusual
collection of products he could
find on buying trips to New York. In his "Galleries of
Design" he provided discriminating clientele with the
latest finds and new trends. After establishing his
second store in neighboring Delray Beach, he decided
that New York was where he wanted to reestablish
himself. In his store on Park Avenue, through his
connections with the prestigious American Crafts Museum,
he incorporated pieces by emerging artists into his
award-winning floral designs. Upon being discovered by
the likes of Halston, Andy Warhol and other prominent
New Yorkers of the day, he landed at The Carlyle Hotel
as a banquet florist, closed his retail store, and
established a studio and workroom in his loft in SoHo
where he met his upstairs neighbor, a photographer by
the name of Bob Demchuk. They have remained friends
throughout the years and, as fate would have it, another
chapter begins entitled WildlifeCardStore.
